New for GPC 2010 “The Construction Zone”

GPC 2010 will feature an area inside the Exhibit Hall will be designated as the “Construction Zone” where all prime construction companies will learn about upcoming opportunities and have their exhibit booths. Additionally, the Zone will also provide primes with the opportunity to have “Face to Face” interviews with potential subcontractors, who have been pre-screened, based on the primes’ subcontracting needs.

The Construction Zone is sponsored by construction trade organizations the Association of General Contractors (AGC), Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.(ABC), and Women Contractors Association (WCA.) collaborating with the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) and public agency partners City of Houston Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance, METRO, the Port of Houston Authority, the Houston Independent School District, and the University of Texas System.

On March 17th, at the Construction and Architectural/Engineering Forum, participants will hear first hand information on upcoming contracting opportunities from key agency representatives.  Additionally, the Kick-Off Networking Reception will allow contractors, agency representatives, and event sponsors to interact in a less formal setting.

On March 18th, an area inside the GPC Exhibition Hall will be designated the “Construction Zone,” where all Prime construction companies will have their exhibit booths.  It is significant to note that:

  • the venue will allow Prime Contractors to meet “Face to Face” with potential Subcontractors to understand their abilities and create relationships that can lead to contracting opportunities;
  • fostering relationships and contracting opportunities can result in better responses to Good Faith Efforts and attaining goals established on various Public projects; and
  • increased contracting opportunities for contractors can lead to more growth for the companies and create jobs in the Greater Houston area.

Prime contractors interested in exhibit booths or sponsorship opportunities should contact Roger Harris at 713-837-9024 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
